When I think of U of W, the first thing that comes to mind is acquiring knowledge. For my story cube, I decided to present the places that I have found to be great study areas. I began by taking two photos of the Dana Porter library. I often study in close proximity to the coffee shop, right by the large windows that encircle it. I find looking outside to be very calming. When I’m in search of a quiet area, the periodical section downstairs is a great place for this. I then made a stop at the Davis Center because I frequently study in the quiet area of the library. Here, each seat is individually lighted, which is great when reading. The lounge in ECH was my next stop. The big comfy couches with footrests make it a great place to relax and absorb some information. My last photo was taken at William’s. Although this spot might be slightly off campus grounds I had to include it. Due to its close proximity to ECH, I often find myself grabbing a coffee and studying. To tie the idea of attaining knowledge together, I printed my photographs in black in white. Inside my cube I included the words discover, understand, learn, appreciate, value, and absorb. These were inscribed in colour to represent how something can be very black and white untill you take the time to understand and reflect on what it is that you are learning.
