My cube focuses on the patterns and relationships in the geometric shapes of the buildings and art works around campus. Most people don’t notice the details, some which are quite obvious, until they are separated from the whole and pointed out to them. The cube shows the relationships of one building to another, and how the details in a single building make it seem either imposing or friendly, important or relaxed. How simple or complex is the pattern? Is there a predictable pattern or just interacting shapes? What forms are created in the negative space? Are there any empty spaces creating 3D layering effects?

The different impacts from the different buildings and their arrangement with one another can also shed light onto what buildings are most important to the school and so to the students as well, and maybe the inherent inferiority of the ‘lesser’ structures.
