The interaction between students and their specific use of the campus is an interesting one. With my Story Cube, I wish to explore the student as an educator and facilitator of change within the university community and among their peers. In a time where social justice and environmental concerns are becoming increasingly important, there is a visible reaction by University of Waterloo students. Various events on campus, student club displays, and the University of Waterloo Public Interest Research Group are outlets for students to educate while interacting with the space on campus. This can be in lecture halls, open spaces in buildings, outdoor pathways, among many other places. One area I chose to explore is the Student Life Centre, which acts as hub for many activities. When I passed through this space, I saw displays for different clubs on campus run by students. When I continued on the path outside, I noticed trees wrapped with white bands for the ‘Make Poverty History’ event which recently passed. Each side of the cube explores a different way in which students are able to use sites within the campus as an environment for ‘educating change’.
